Latina Entrepreneur Program in Fresno: SER Mujer Program Begins

Mastering and Understanding Jobs and Entrepreneurship Relationships

SER-Jobs for Progress is offering a new Latina entrepreneurs program: SER MUJER

SER MUJER Latina Entrepreneurs Program

The SER MUJER project, funded by the Coca-Cola Foundation, is one of five offered throughout the United States. This free service will focus on women’s empowerment within the business world. The project is designed to provide business development, encouragement, and support to aspiring women entrepreneurs. SER MUJER is designed to allow women to participate in the project at their convenience. Sessions are offered in small group workshops, online eLearning and a hybrid of the two.

Latina Entrepreneurs by the Numbers*

As of 2014, it is estimated that there are 9.1 million women owned businesses in the United States, generating over $1.4 trillion in revenues and employing nearly 7.9 million people.

Firms owned by Latinas number an estimated 1,033,100 as of 2014, generating $71.1 billion in revenues and employing 433,600 people.

Over the past 17 years, the number of Latina – owned firms has more than tripled up 206%, employment has risen by 85% and revenues have more than doubled an increase of 160%.

Between 1997 and 2014, the number of wom-en owned firms grew at 1.5 times the national average. 1,114,900 businesses owned by Women are in California, which ranks #1 in the nation.
